Trow & Rahal, P.C, a boutique business immigration firm in Bethesda, Maryland, is looking for an Immigration Paralegal to manage a diverse and high-volume caseload as well as manage corporate client accounts under the supervision of an attorney.

In this role, you will manage drafting, assembling, and filing a variety of cases including H-1Bs, L-1s, E-1/E-2s, and PERMs under the supervision of firm attorneys and act as client manager for corporate clients.

Here is important information about the role:

  • Start Date : As soon as possible (with the understanding that currently employed candidates will need to give notice).
  • Salary Range : $60,000 to $75,000 per year, depending upon qualifications and experience.
  • Schedule/Work Location : Hybrid schedule at their Bethesda, Maryland office (Bethesda Station stop on the Red Line).
  • Growth Potential : The firm has senior level and supervisory roles that employees can grow into.
  • Benefits : Health insurance (firm pays 80%), dental and vision plans, 401(k) with employer contribution, Section 125 Plan, transportation benefits, generous PTO, sick leave, and paid holidays.
  • Experience/Education Required : 3-5 years of business immigration experience with H-1Bs, L-1s, E-1/E-2s, and PERM. Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.

You take ownership of your cases and can work with minimal supervision (i.e., you don’t like or need to be micromanaged).

You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and can speak confidently with clients (and know when to loop in attorneys for complex questions that require legal advice and strategy).

Additionally, you have:

  • A strong understanding of the importance of deadlines and ability to consistently meet them.
  • The ability to quickly develop rapport and trust with clients.
  • Legal research skills and an aptitude for writing-intensive cases.
  • A passion for mentoring and training junior team members.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture.

More Of What You Will Do

In addition to preparing and filing immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications and petitions, in your day-to-day you will:

  • Conduct initial case review to identify issues and information needed.
  • Act as the primary contact for corporate and individual clients, maintaining relationships through regular communication.
  • Track client expiration dates and filing deadlines and initiate inquiries for extensions or next steps in cases as needed.
  • Utilize Edge case management system to daily manage cases.
  • Draft RFE responses, motions to reopen, and PERM audits.
  • Attend and participate in legal and firm meetings, in-house seminars, and client consultations.
  • Help mentor and train legal staff in adapting to the firm’s systems, procedures, and work style.
