Position Summary Drive a flatbed truck with semi-trailer combination to transport construction materials and rebar to various customer locations and jobsites. Payloads may consist of various commodities, may be mixed, and may have several drops/stops per load. Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform a daily pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and the truck to assure a safe vehicle. Be responsible for maintaining service intervals for power unit and trailer.
Safely operate truck and trailer combination. May be required to hook and unhook the trailer from the truck occasionally.
Be responsible for required paperwork involving shipping bills, maintenance, fuel records and other related documentation.
Place truck in position to load at Rebar plant, the C/I warehouse, or other locations as required. Responsible for strapping, &/or securing trailer in designated and safe manner.
Drive truck to designated location or site and position truck for unloading while following direction from plant, yard, or customer personnel and distinguish between safe and unsafe unloading conditions.
Communication and cooperate with dispatch regarding starting times, variable workload and shift ending times, while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned, i.e. Operate Forklift, light maintenance housekeeping duties at the plant in Lincoln.
Maintain a clean driving record and operate the company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner. Follow all Company policies regarding safety—traffic laws, cell phone usage, texting, non-smoking, etc.
Education and/or Experience: - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- Previous commercial truck driving experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: - Valid Commercial Driver’s License - Class A minimum.
Skills and Abilities: - Must be able to lift/move items weighing 50-60 lbs.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season, including late or irregular hours.
