About Momentum Education

Momentum Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping first-generation, low-income students earn a living wage. We focus on two key milestones:

1. Post-secondary enrollment and 
2. Post-secondary persistence

To achieve these goals, we offer three core programs: Career Exploration, SAT Preparation, and Post-Secondary Support.

• Career Exploration: We host weekly webinars with professionals from a variety of fields and organize career-focused field trips. Exposure to different career paths helps students develop interests that motivate them to pursue higher education.

• SAT Preparation: We guide students through Khan Academy’s SAT prep curriculum, focusing on Math and Reading. To encourage progress, we provide students stipends tied to content mastery. Higher SAT scores help students secure more financial aid and avoid remedial coursework, both of which support persistence in college.

• Post-Secondary Support: We pair each student with an Academic Advisor who checks-in monthly to monitor progress and provide tailored support. We also match students with a Career Mentor who helps them plan for and work toward long-term career goals.

About the Position

Momentum Education seeks a Program Intern with a passion for service and education. The intern will support 12th-grade students as they navigate the post-secondary process, ensuring they successfully enroll in higher education.

This position is designed with growth in mind: the Program Intern will be considered for a full-time Academic Advisor role beginning in Summer 2026 .

Key Responsibilities

• Review and provide feedback on scholarship applications for 12th-grade students
• Meet virtually with 12th grade students to track progress and provide guidance
• Respond to 12th grade student communications

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will be a graduating college senior who is enthusiastic about education and committed to expanding access to higher education. Specifically, candidates should have a:

• Strong commitment to Momentum Education’s mission
• Interest in pursuing a full-time role with Momentum Education after graduation
• Expected graduation in December 2025 or May 2026
• Experience building positive student relationships
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficiency with Google Docs and Zoom
• Availability to work in-person at 3033 Chimney Rock Avenue, Suite 450, Houston, TX 77056
• Commitment to 15 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 2:30–5:30 PM CST)
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Access to a cell phone, working laptop, and reliable transportation

• $900/month
