Job Description

Job Description

At Pursuit, we offer more than just a place to visit, we create opportunities for our guests to truly connect with iconic destinations. Our experiences include world-class attractions and distinctive lodges, all designed to highlight the unique beauty of each location. Beyond that, we offer thoughtfully crafted restaurants, retail, and transportation services that help our guests immerse themselves fully in the experience. What ties it all together are the friendly faces you’ll find along the way, the thoughtful amenities, and the delightful details that make every visit feel personal and unforgettable.

Some hotels need a manager

Some need a caretaker

This one needs a builder

Grouse Mountain Lodge is entering a pivotal chapter. Significant investment is underway, the guest experience is being reimagined end-to-end, and the property is being elevated into one of the most compelling mountain properties in the region. We are hiring a General Manager to lead that evolution.

Your Mission

To make Grouse Mountain Lodge the property every Whitefish visitor dreams of staying in and the place locals are proud to call their second home.

It is the chance to shape the future of hospitality in Whitefish — to inspire a team, elevate a brand, and create something truly magical.

At Pursuit, you won’t simply lead a hotel — you’ll help shape the future of destination hospitality.

Your Impact

You will own the full performance of a 143-room mountain lodge featuring Logan’s full-service restaurant, gift shop & cafe, wellness amenities, over 15,000 sqft of meeting and event space including a brand-new 8,000 sq. ft. event centre currently under construction.

This is your opportunity to elevate an iconic lodge, inspire a remarkable team, engage your community and create experiences guests will treasure for a lifetime - setting a new benchmark for mountain hospitality in the Northwest.

This role is for a hospitality leader who wants to put their fingerprint on a destination. Someone energized by complexity, motivated by excellence, and inspired by the opportunity to turn a strong foundation into something truly special.

This role is not about managing square footage. It is about redefining how a destination feels — turning vision into warmth, connection, and loyalty.

What You’ll Be Accountable For

Transformation & Brand Leadership

  • Lead the hotel through a large-scale renovation, translating vision into reality and ensuring the guest experience is elevated at every touchpoint.
  • Position Grouse Mountain Lodge as the definitive mountain hotel in Whitefish — not just competitive, but iconic.
  • Champion Pursuit’s “Go Beyond” service philosophy, inspiring your team to consistently exceed expectations.

Culture, Talent & Leadership Development

  • Direct recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of all hotel leaders and team members.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones and reviews, and address performance concerns.
  • Lead workforce planning, labor relations, scheduling, wage administration, and retention strategies.

Financial Leadership

  • Own full P&L responsibility including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with Pursuit’s Revenue team to optimize ADR, Occupancy, and RevPAR through dynamic pricing strategies.
  • Implement disciplined cost-control strategies across labor, utilities, and operations while protecting four-star service standards.
  • Prepare performance reporting, analyze variances, and communicate results to senior leadership.

Sales, Marketing & Reputation

  • Partner with sales and revenue teams to drive group, corporate, leisure, and event demand.
  • Oversee online reputation management, review scores, and Net Promoter performance across all platforms.
  • Build relationships with travel partners, corporate clients, and community stakeholders to grow market share.

Guest Experience & Quality Assurance

  • Set, monitor, and uphold service excellence standards across Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Events.
  • Be visibly present — engaging VIPs and personally resolving complex guest concerns.
  • Lead regular property walks across guestrooms, public spaces, and back-of-house to ensure brand standards are met.

Operational & Facilities Leadership

  • Oversee all departments including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and Security.
  • Champion preventive maintenance programs and ensure all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems are maintained to the highest standard.

Food & Beverage Oversight

  • Ensure the quality, profitability, and service excellence of Logan’s Restaurant, bars, banquets, and in-room dining.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, security, and licensing regulations.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and business continuity plans

The Leader We’re Looking For

You are a proven change-leader who thrives on building something extraordinary.

You bring:

  • Senior leadership experience as a General Manager, Director of Operations, or Assistant GM within a complex, service-driven hotel environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading transformation, renovation, or cultural turnaround initiatives.
  • Deep financial acumen with full P&L accountability.
  • A hands-on, servant-leadership style that inspires excellence and loyalty.
  • A relentless commitment to elite hospitality, storytelling, and meaningful guest connection.
