Job Description

Position Objectives

It is the primary responsibility of the Director of Finance to generate financial statements, account reconciliations, and fixed asset records, while maintaining records for county and state taxes, licenses, and safeguarding all company assets. The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial close process and producing timely, accurate reports that inform decision-making.

Description of Duty:

  • Communicate with department heads and corporate regarding accounting and internal controls
  • Prepare and maintain all accounting records and information
  • Set the standards of professionalism for the department through the development of procedures and the training of service skills
  • Provides the executive management team with accurate and comprehensive financial information that guides effective financial decision-making and strategizing
  • Create and maintain a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction
  • Oversee the assigned operational functions within the department, ensuring it is consistent with the strategic direction and vision for the hotel
  • Ensure the department is performing tasks in accordance with laws and regulations and GAAP
  • Oversee the entire chart of accounts and financial statements
  • Develop an annual budget and aid in the coaching and development of managers' financial acumen
  • Prepare and distribute accurate monthly Profit & Loss statements. Review monthly with the Executive Committee
  • Oversee the debt management and collection activities for the hotel
  • Summarize budget trends, analyze deficiencies, and report variances to the executive team
  • Evaluate, manage, and advise on internal and external financial risks
  • Oversee the Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving department, ensuring the department operates within budget and regulatory guidelines
  • Guide inventory management for the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 10+ years experience as a Controller, CFO, Director of Finance or other related experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting reconciliations and the general ledger
  • Demonstrated experience in exercising confidentiality and integrity

Education & Skills

  • Preferred : Master's Degree or Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license
  • Required : extensive experience using Microsoft Office Applications, Outlook, the Internet, and other Microsoft Office products
  • Required : mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Required : effective oral and written communication skills to interact with all employee levels and guests within the hotel
  • Required : Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle conflicting demands
  • Required ; Flexible with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and situations
  • Required : Solid under pressure, professional, and able to maintain composure in handling complaints and other feedback
  • Required : Ability to meet deadlines without compromise
